What I just wrote:
Dear Chloe Smith MP
I’m writing to express my concern about the “Transparency of Lobbying, Non-Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Bill”, and how it would affect organisations such as “38 degrees”. The media has such a big effect on what people are thinking about at election time, it’s important to have routes into that conversation for ordinary people with not much time to spare. Please reconsider that bit of the Bill.
Thanks!
For background:
Lobbying bill will hinder charity campaigning and fundraising, NCVO warns.
Charity lawyer warns new lobbying bill poses ‘existential threat to charity campaigning’
Those articles refer to charities, and I’m not actually sure off the top of my head whether 38 Degrees is a charity, but it would affect them, and presumably also Avaaz and (if they spend enough) AllOut, etc. I don’t want those organisations squashed!
A handy place for writing your own letter about it.
