Copyright information for the text on the "identity" badges
Sometimes people ask who made up these sayings, and whether it's OK to copy them. Obviously the one-word ones didn't exactly need making up.
(All the artwork is copyright Jennifer Moore, but this page is about the words.)
The following were made up at some point in the past by other activists, and seem to be pretty much public domain by now, so feel free to do your own designs of them:
- assume nothing
- straight but not narrow
- safe, sane, consensual
- queer as fuck
- no, I'm bisexual, you're confused
- your fence is sitting on me
- fluffy bi
- spiky bi
- [bi logo] - this bi logo may have been first designed by Rachael House, but she said she doesn't mind other people using it, in any case
These phrases did exist before (or probably did), but possibly they hadn't been put on badges till now:
- normal rules do not apply
- transcending gender
- neither
- [question mark]
- bitch
- gender, schmender
- genderqueer
- queer babe
- queer girl
- queer boy
- bi babe
- bi feminist
- birthday bi babe
- bi & monogamous
- humansexual (a.k.a. sexualhuman)
and a special credit to Helen-Louise for suggesting
- there are more than two options
The following were made up specially for this series of badges, and are copyright Jennifer Moore:
- love counts more than gender*
- my sex life is not the business of the state
- fat & gorgeous
- shy but friendly
- no flirt radar - spell it out
- live to the full, die old, have smiley wrinkles
- love + love = love
- yes, my partners do know about each other
- ... and the princess fell in love with the other two princesses, and they all lived happily ever after
- straight, so far...
- my gender is not the business of the state
- delicious vanilla
* However this one is now officially public domain for all purposes other than rival badge manufacture:
- love counts more than gender
